Prep Time

Laundry is being washed, tires are rotated, oil is changed. It is time to head out. Chris and I leave on Friday and we are preparing the trailer that has been sitting in my parent's driveway for the past month. My first order of business was to go out to the trailer and turn the heat on so we could work out there. The door was frozen closed, so I gave it a tug and now we are down a foot plate as the whole thing tore off with ice. Add it to the list, it is time to leave this frozen land!

We feel a bit more comfortable in this process now and know what we can pack, what will be useful and what will not. We replaced some trim that had come off and adjusted some screws around the window blinds that had come loose. Home repairs in a trailer are not too involved, so a day devoted to sorting/packing/fixing was plenty. I've moved on to looking forward to what we will get to see and do in New Orleans. Contrary to some of the advice I've been getting, it seems like there will be a lot to keep us busy over the next two weeks when we are down there. City Park, playgrounds, sculpture gardens, WW2 Museum, a Creole Plantation, Marvel LIVE!, and trolley rides are all family fun activities we are looking forward to in the city that is known for their costume jewelry.

My mom is generous enough to fly our munchkins down to us so they can bypass the 20 hour drive and we can bypass their commentary! She will be staying with us until Thursday and then it's just the four of us until the end of February. After living in the West where we have known and seen so many friends and family it will feel different to be in a part of the country we are not familiar with nor know anybody. It feels as if this is the beginning of the true adventure!
