Rolling on

Yesterday I played the game of Tetris that is packing away our boxes, chairs, BBQ, fishing poles, scooters, helmets, and the list goes on into our storage compartment. Tomorrow we unhook and roll up the coast to South Carolina. We are all super excited as we are looking forward to spending the weekend with some friends who have moved to SC who we do not get to see very often.

Playing Tarzan
When we set out on this journey I told Chris I had a goal to never touch the sewer system. I didn't want to empty it, didn't want to maintain it, and most certainly didn't want to deal with the hookups. But tomorrow I will be doing it all. I've been inspired by the many women we have met who travel alone. We've met a woman in South Dakota  who travels around rescuing greyhound dogs. We've met a mom who travels around solo with her three kiddos and we've met a woman in her 60's who travels in her large camper enjoying the winters down South while waiting for the snow to pass. In short, I feel a little pathetic with my abilities regarding this rig. My plan is to completely unhook this home of ours, drive it up to SC and hook it back up. The actual connection of putting the camper on the truck will be my largest hurdle, so I will either figure it out or completely damage truck and trailer...it's a 50-50 toss up at this point.

Oliver navigating the kayak trails
We have really enjoyed our time in the Golden Isles and have had such a great time hanging out on the coast! Austin's half birthday was earlier this week and we spent the day celebrating. We hiked around Ft. Frederica where Southern Georgia was won for the English against the Spaniards before the revolution and the kids had a fun time pretending they were part of the army. A round of Putt Putt at sunset and a nice Italian restaurant ended our day.

Christ Church
Most of our time has been spent in the back woods at our campground. Huge oak trees to play on surround us with all of their spanish moss dripping to the ground. The boys tackled their first wooded single track and were riding over bumps that had me stopped and walking my bike over. They were yahooing and cheering each other on before heading out for a 3 mile ride around the park. Their bikes also got a workout along the bike path on Jekyll Island as Oliver officially rode a little over 6 miles with NO whining! We all high fived and now look forward to more family rides that take us further than what we usually walk.

Ticks have almost become welcome members in our camper as the boys like to study them before killing them. We have all plucked them off our bodies at some point and have found others that are nice and full wandering around. I have to say I will NOT be sorry to leave those behind (here's hoping we do!).
Tick Observation
And with that, we are off. Another state checked off on our map, more memories added to our bank. Up the coast we go, given that I do not destroy the hitch before we hit the road.
