This Camp is AWESOME! |
See what I did there? I had to put the state next to the city name in the title because if I just said "Waterville," nobody would have a clue where I was talking about. I'm pretty sure most Minnesotans would have no idea that little Waterville was in their state. But! If you are a five year old kiddo and have an up upcoming birthday and you are living in a camper, you will want to head to Kamp Dels in Waterville, MN.

Happy Birthday! |
We pulled into Kamp Dels on a Saturday morning after staying at a state park in Iowa. We had two campers as my parents were joining us for the week and were able to borrow my aunt and uncle's cool house on wheels, and sites right next door to one another. As we pulled in we were greeted by a teenager who was working at what can only be described as a mad house. We had just been driving through towns that boasted their populations such as "57" or "342" and I am positive that all of them were staying at Kamp Dels as it is one of the only things to do in that part of the state. We were in site numbers 408 and 409 and it still went up from there, with every one of them packed full of campers, tents, sun shades and boat loads of kids.

Sunset Cruise on Lake Sakatah |
There is a water park, a swimming pool with diving boards, mini golf, boat rentals, massive playgrounds, horse and pony rides, fishing ponds, baseball fields, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, and last (and certainly least as I had a hard time looking at them without running for some wire clippers to set them all free), a petting zoo complete with deer. The entire place crawls with children from sunup to sundown. Each kid has a bike and it was quickly determined what bikes their new friends rode in order to keep track of them to see where they were throughout the campground while we were there.

Captain and First Mate Scallywag |
"THIS CAMPGROUND IS AWESOME!!!" we heard from the birthday boy no less than 10 time per day. And that is exactly why we were there. We swam. We jumped off of diving boards. We played baseball and the boys played mini golf.

Time to Work |
The adults gathered with our eyes wide and they only got wider when we realized how many people are "seasonals."

Away from the madness |
Mom and I took one day and headed for the Minnesota Zoo which is a sweet zoo with huge enclosures which was great to wander around. We brought the kids into the tiny town and had ice cream while my dad and Chris took advantage of the great Internet and got their word done from the campground.

Pretty cool zoo |
We had campfires and s'mores. We went out on a pontoon boat. We hugged our goodbyes as my parents headed South and we turned North.
